The application for the lockdown business support grant is now live, here
You may be eligible for a grant, if your business:
- is registered for business rates, and
- was trading as usual but has been forced to close
You can apply if your business closed because of:
- local Tier 3 ‘very high’ restrictions on 23 October 2020
- or new national restrictions introduced on 5 November 2020
Your business can apply if you were forced to close on 23 October 2020 under Tier 3 local restrictions. The following types of business are eligible:
- pubs, bars and licensed premises (who do not serve substantial meals)
- casinos
- betting shops
- adult gaming centres
- soft play centres
Your business can apply if you were forced to close on 5 November 2020 under national lockdown restrictions. The following types of business are eligible:
- non-essential retail
- hospitality
- leisure
The Lockdown Business Support Grant helps businesses that have been required to close due to new national lockdown restrictions by providing grants of £1334, £2000 or £3000 every four weeks whilst the restrictions are in place. The amount you receive depends on the rateable value (RV) of the property and the length of time the business remains closed. Unlike previously, properties with a rateable value of more than £51,000 may apply.
Councillor Mazher Iqbal, Cabinet Member for Business and Investment at Sheffield City Council, said:
“The new national lockdown restrictions bring yet more uncertainty for our businesses at an already extremely difficult time. We are doing all we can to make sure we can support them during the lockdown period and beyond and I want to urge all businesses eligible for a grant to apply and we will continue our conversations with Government to make the case for further support across South Yorkshire.”
The full government guidance on national restrictions from 5th November is available here
Businesses who are forced to close but are not registered with business rates and businesses who remain open but affected by Covid-19 should not use this scheme. We are working on a scheme to support the wider business base and will provide updates as soon as possible.
Businesses wishing to stay informed with the latest updates, should sign up to Sheffield City Council’s email alert service here and follow Business Sheffield and Sheffield City Council’s social media channels.
Business Sheffield’s team of advisors are available to help businesses navigate their way through the available support.
