Inspiration, collaboration and a sprinkle of magic were the order of the day as Innovation Network South Yorkshire visited the whimsical world of Grimm & Co to explore the partnerships helping our region thrive.

In a packed room of attendees from both Sheffield universities, community organisations, industry and the public sector, success stories were shared and new connections forged. The INSY team would like to thank its brilliant speakers:

  • Deborah Bullivant MBE DL EdD (Founder & CEO, Grimm & Co) for sprinkling some patented Grimm & Co magic on proceedings and providing a fascinating tour of the unique space.
  • John Edwards (Chief Executive, Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council) for detailing the town’s bold ambitions and the vital role of innovation and collaboration in realising them.
  • Katie Hamshaw and Helen Oades (South Yorkshire Children’s University) for a characteristically passionate overview of the aspirational work they do with children across the region.
  • Carrie Sudbury (CEO, Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce) for an inspiring closing address on how, by working together, we are much greater than the sum of our parts.

And give a big round of applause to those who kindly led breakout sessions:

  • Leanne Buchan (Head of Creative Programming, RMBC) and the three brilliant young people who so wonderfully articulated the impact and legacy of Rotherham’s Children’s Capital of Culture 2025.
  • Sheffield Hallam University‘s Chris Dayson (Professor of Voluntary Action, Health and Wellbeing) and Laura Mackey (Senior Lecturer, School of Health & Social Care) for bringing the everyday experiences of loneliness and social connection to life in such an engaging way.
  • Rotherham Investment & Development Office‘s Simeon Leach (Service Manager Economic Strategy) and Lorna Vertigan (Head of Regeneration) for showcasing Rotherham’s inclusive economic growth and the essential need to engage with our local communities.

Finally, the team would like to thank everyone who attended for engaging so enthusiastically, and hosts, Grimm & Co, for making the event a success.
